NIH Study about Epilepsy & Employment
People with epilepsy report significantly higher rates of unemployment, job loss, and experiences of shame or depression compared to peers with other chronic diseases. They’re more likely to be perceived as “unfit to work,” even though these assumptions aren’t supported by evidence. The study highlights ongoing stigma and its impact on employability for individuals with epilepsy.
