Functional seizures (FS) or nonepileptic seizures (NES/PNES)

Functional seizures (FS), or nonepileptic seizures (NES)/PNES, are physical episodes resembling epilepsy but are not caused by abnormal electrical activity in the brain. They are involuntary, often linked to stress or emotional trauma, and are diagnosed using video-EEG monitoring to confirm no epileptic activity occurs during the event.
